When you choose to have 1 or more columns per row of listings, categories, etc WSN automatically inserts <tr> tags to create those rows. If you don't wish to use tables, go to Admin Panel -> Settings -> General and set your number of columns per row to 0. The value 0 will tell it to not autoinsert any table html, and you can then redesign your templates with div tags.
